Infant/Toddler Specialist

Bensenville School District 2 is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Infant/Toddler Specialist to provide high-quality, home-based support services to children and families enrolled in the Birth to Three Home Visiting Program. This position focuses on strengthening parent-child relationships, supporting healthy social-emotional development, and connecting families with community resources that promote long-term success.

The ideal candidate is relationship-focused, culturally responsive, and passionate about supporting young children and families through early intervention and prevention services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide year-round home visiting services to approximately 15–20 families, typically two to three visits per month.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities using the BabyTALK curriculum and other research-based practices.
  • Promote positive parent-child interactions and family engagement strategies.
  • Conduct developmental screenings and assessments for infants and toddlers.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress reports related to program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with families to identify strengths, needs, and goals through ongoing family support planning.
  • Connect families with community agencies, resources, and support services.
  • Empower families to advocate for themselves and their children.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, reflective supervision, and collaborative planning.
  • Assist with community outreach and family recruitment efforts throughout the school year.
  • Support district-wide early childhood initiatives, including data collection and referral coordination.
  • Collaborate with early childhood partners and community organizations to support Birth to Three families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Family Services, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and families preferred.
  • Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with diverse families.
  • Experience working with economically disadvantaged or at-risk populations preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and data entry systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time position with flexible scheduling based on family needs.
  • Frequent local travel required for home visits and community outreach activities.
  • Evening hours may occasionally be required for family events or outreach programming.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees of the District.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in either written diagram or oral form.
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
