Position Summary

This position offers foundational clinical guidance to early‑stage graduate students in the PsyD program by providing weekly individual supervision for students completing a 500‑hour pre‑externship experience. The supervisor will collaborate with on‑site supervisors at established community partner sites and PsyD program faculty to ensure high‑quality clinical training that aligns with program and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Direct Supervision:
    Provide one hour of direct, individual clinical supervision per week for each assigned student.
  • Reviewing and signing off on student clinical documentation.
  • Maintaining supervisor‑specific documentation and records.
  • Reviewing student session recordings to provide actionable feedback.
  • Completing and submitting formal student evaluations.
  • Developmental Mentorship:
    Support students who are new to clinical work in a tailored, supportive environment, ensuring they develop the foundational skills necessary to progress to the externship experience.
  • Coordination of Training:
    Establish regular, ongoing communication with each student’s site supervisor and pre‑externship course instructor. Coordinate with the Director of Clinical Training as necessary.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Pennsylvania‑licensed psychologist.
  • Two years of prior experience in clinical supervision and a strong commitment to the developmental training of foundational‑level psychology students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, as well as state‑specific legal mandates (e.g., mandated reporting, duty to warn).
  • Familiarity with the operational realities, documentation standards, and client populations typical of community‑based mental health partner sites.

Operates in an office environment that may have frequent interruptions. The area is well‑lit, temperature‑controlled, and free from hazards. Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.

Physical Requirements

Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in‑person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Certification

/ Licensure

Pennsylvania‑licensed psychologist.

Compensation Structure

This role is compensated at the standard adjunct faculty rate, with pay scaled based on the number of students assigned for supervision each semester. The tier structure is as follows:

  • 1 student:
    Compensated at the 1‑credit adjunct rate.
  • 2–3 students:
    Compensated at the 2‑credit adjunct rate.
  • 4–5 students:
    Compensated at the 3‑credit adjunct rate.
Qualifications

The successful applicant must hold an earned academic degree (doctoral or master’s level) in the discipline or a related field appropriate for the contracted teaching responsibilities.
