Position: Teaching Spec or Lecturer - KIN/SMGT (Continuous Post AY 26-27)

About the Job

Adjunct instructor or visiting faculty positions are appointed on a semester basis as Teaching Specialists or Lecturers. These temporary, non-tenured Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) roles pay on a per-course basis and are contingent on course enrollment targets.

Responsibilities
  • Teach an undergraduate course during the 2026‑2027 academic year in the areas of Kinesiology, Sport Management, and Recreation, Park and Leisure Studies.
  • Prepare course content, assessments, and grading materials.
  • Grade and submit student work, including exams, papers, and final projects.
  • Respond to student inquiries via your UMN email account; evaluate student performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    A master’s degree in a relevant field (Teaching Specialist) or a doctoral/terminal degree (Lecturer).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse communities, backgrounds, and identities.
  • Preferred:
    Experience teaching at the university level in Kinesiology, Recreation, or Sport Management.
Benefits and Compensation

Pay: $1,700 per credit taught, up to 4 credits maximum; compensation varies by education, qualifications, and experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor‑Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications. The position is based on campus; remote work may be permitted when appropriate and approved by your manager.
