Health & Wellness Prevention Coordinator

The Health & Wellness Prevention Coordinator is a 12-month position beginning July 15, 2026, and renewable through June 30, 2029. The position supports the coordination and implementation of the Be Epic, Escape the Vape program in partnership with USU Extension and HEART faculty in Grand County. Continued employment through June 30, 2029, is contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued grant funding.

This position offers a flexible work environment, including opportunities for remote work (e.g., work from home) as well as in-person programming with youth, parents, educators, and community partners. The coordinator will assist in administering a local grant focused on preventing youth vaping and e-cigarette use in Moab and Grand County.

Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing prevention programs and events; coordinating trainings; supporting grant administration and budgeting; collecting and reporting program data; and maintaining project records. Under the direction of the Project Director, the coordinator will help develop and deliver parent prevention education, build and strengthen community partnerships, promote program activities, and collaborate with schools and local organizations to provide prevention education for youth, parents, and educators.

Support and provide implementation of a vape/e-cigarette prevention trainings for youth, parents, and teachers. Plan, organize, present, promote, and supervise special events or outreach activities (e.g., education events, teacher trainings, youth trainings, etc.). Modify and support development of prevention events. Establish working relationship with key partners, schools, and prevention coalitions. Monitor local budget provided for trainings and other grant activities. Promote trainings and events through social media and other marketing tools.

Create vape prevention social media content. Work with staff and with community partners, schedule meetings, arrange travel, schedule community and teacher development activities and programs for youth and other project related functions. Assists with technical writing for project activities. Prepare reports, financial statements and records on program status and progress for management and the sponsor agency. Assist with data entry and analysis.

Assist with writing and editing project related reports and promotional or educational materials. Engage in evidence-based prevention trainings, professional development, and other opportunities as available. Support the civil right mandate of Utah State University Extension. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of experience; or an associate degree in social work, psychology, public health, education, project management, or a related field
• Experience in recruiting, supervising, and working with youth
• Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and integrate evaluation data
• Basic computer skills
  - Word, Excel and Internet
• Access to reliable transportation to and from work sites
• Flexible schedule; some weekend and evening work is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
• Leadership and program implementation experience in a health-related field
• Experience navigating grant or governmental program implementation, finances, and reporting
• Experience and skills in social media promotion and other forms of online marketing and relationship building
• Background and skill in data use and/or collection

• Understand public health initiatives, regulations, trends and emerging issues

This position is performed in a combination of office, remote, school, and community settings. The role requires regular travel within Grand County to attend meetings, trainings, and community events, with occasional evening or weekend work. Physical requirements include prolonged sitting and computer use, standing for presentations, lifting and transporting program materials (up to approximately 25 pounds), and setting up educational displays or event spaces.
