Job DescriptionThe School of Education seeks an instructor to teach SWK 601 M001:
Fundamentals of Social Work Practice during the Fall semester 2026 (3 credits).
Course
Description:
Preparation for beginning social work interventions, including theories of practice and rehearsal of problem‑solving and communication skills with individuals, families, and groups in client, target, and action systems.
Additional Course

This course introduces direct practice in social work. Two frameworks—the generalist and ecological perspectives—inform course readings and discussions. These frameworks provide practical tools for assessing common challenges that social workers face. Students learn to formulate effective interventions with clients and client systems and develop direct practice skills for working with diverse communities. Field‑based assignments advance students’ conceptual grasp of the fundamentals of social work practice and build a foundation for advanced concentrations.
