Pay Range: $2,084.07 – $2,146.59 per credit hour
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job DescriptionThe School of Education seeks an instructor to teach SWK 761 M002:
Integrated Behavioral Health Policy for the Fall semester 2026 (3 credits).
Course
Description:
Policies, programs in mental health and developmental disabilities fields. Deinstitutionalization, community‑based services. Special mental health issues related to poverty, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. Policy analysis. Prerequisite: SWK 611 or consent of instructor.

Description:
This course builds upon the student’s foundation in social welfare policy. Content focuses on the analysis of policies and programs in the mental health arena and the processes for policy advocacy, development and implementation. Special attention is given to public understandings of mental illness, stigma, and how these shape policies. Also examined is the organizational structure in the public and private sectors for service delivery, the financing of mental health services, the rights of persons with psychiatric disabilities with respect to mental health treatment, housing and employment, and differences in service use by different population groups.
Policies of special importance to social work practice, such as privileged communication, and confidentiality and consent for minors and adults where there is a question of capacity, are also addressed.
- A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree is required, with two plus years of post‑master’s experience.
- Previous undergraduate and graduate‑level social work teaching experience is preferred.

- Completion and submission of CSWE competency‑based student outcomes for department assessment/accreditation.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
