The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLL) is committed to fostering an inclusive community, teaching Spanish as a global language with expanded perspectives beyond Spain, and addressing the legacy of colonial activities.
Job SummaryThe Department invites applications for a Lecturer I position in the Spanish section beginning August 25, 2026 and running through December 31, 2026. This is a full-time, in-person position with possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities- Teach three courses in fall, including sections of the Elementary Language Program and/or upper-level courses in Peninsular, Latinx Studies, or Latin American literature and culture.
- Attend course meetings, hold office hours, and manage routine instructional matters.
- Prepare and deliver lessons, assess student progress, and contribute to course development.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Prior experience teaching Spanish as a foreign or second language.
- Minimum required education level: MA or equivalent experience.
- Advanced training or degree (e.g., PhD in Hispanic Studies, Romance Languages, or a closely related field).
- Experience with communicative language instruction and flipped classroom pedagogy.
- Experience teaching inclusive concepts in a language course.
- Experience teaching additional Romance languages.
This position is in-person (onsite). Hybrid or remote work may be considered at the department’s discretion.
