Job Description
Special Education ACCESS Program Teacher
Location: Medford High School
Teach and case-manage a subseparate classroom of students requiring direct, appropriate individualized and small group instruction, based on IEP goals and objectives, within a highly supported setting. Curriculum is aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks as the access/entry skill levels of complexity. Methodology includes strong multidisciplinary collaboration between instructional staff, related service providers and parents. Students participate in standards‑based instruction while addressing social, motor and communication skills.
Opportunities for facilitated inclusion components. The teacher participates in the supervision of paraprofessional staff and service providers in a team‑oriented educational setting. There is a strong focus on transition and preparing students for post‑secondary success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree (preferred)
- Massachusetts Severe Disabilities license (preferred)
- Experience:
3 years (preferred) - Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level (9‑12) or discipline (preferred)
- Experience with Alt MCAS (a plus)
