The UAA Justice Center is holding an open recruitment for Criminology and Criminal Justice adjunct instructors who are interested in expanding their professional practice to include part‑time teaching in undergraduate programs.
The program, located within the Justice Center, is dedicated to providing strong and innovative instruction that prepares students for engaged citizenship by providing them specialized knowledge and skills required for the evaluation, administration, and improvement of police, court, and correctional policies and organizations. Instruction will occur through distance delivery, face‑to‑face on campus methods, or through hybrid approaches combining these methods.
Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute a hiring agreement, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available in subsequent semesters. Hiring decisions for temporary faculty are made on a semester‑by‑semester basis, according to the needs of that semester’s schedule and any needs that arise during the course of a given semester. We seek to identify talented adjunct faculty, invest in them, provide training and mentoring prior to and during instruction, and establish long‑term working relationships to enhance the quality of faculty for the benefit of our students and programs.
Candidates will be evaluated on past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to effective teaching in the area of need, and potential for providing high‑quality instruction to undergraduate students.
