Overview

The Academic Program Coordinator (APC) handles the day-to-day operations that support research, teaching, and learning at the Cogut Institute for the Humanities. Each year, the institute hosts a broad range of events and courses that bring together scholars from across the University.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs, serves as a first point of contact for prospective applicants, prepares review materials for the institute’s governing board and selection committees, and administers research expense reimbursements for the institute’s faculty and students.
  • Works with a changing roster of faculty members to prepare course proposals, ensures classrooms and offices are ready for use, responds to A/V queries, facilitates travel arrangements for guest speakers and instructors, and supports course-related events and weekly research seminars.
  • Participates in outreach efforts for these programs and contributes to the design and distribution of communications materials.
  • Collaborates with institute staff including the Director, Institute Manager, and the Communications Manager; maintains knowledge of University policies, technical systems, and institute guidelines; and acts as a financial coordinator.
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree and 3 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in higher education, preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Workday, Banner, GSIM, scheduling software and Zoom, with the ability to learn new software tools as necessary.
  • Strong financial skills.
  • Experience with use and troubleshooting of A/V systems and office equipment, preferred.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with all levels within the University and external communities.
  • Initiative and ability to think, act, and solve problems independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload and goals in a fast-paced environment.
