Job Summary
This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[ POOL ]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous pool of qualified candidates. If a position becomes available, the College will review the pool and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the opening.
Responsibilities- Develop, plan, and present organized lectures, laboratory activities, and out‑of‑class assignments in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes, using departmental curriculum where appropriate.
- Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, maintain student records, report student attainment of outcomes, and comply with college policies and teaching workload processes.
- Keep abreast of developments in the subject area and educational technology, and endeavor for professional improvement.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Ensure lab equipment is used appropriately, follow all safety protocols, and account for equipment after each laboratory session.
- Promote the mission of LBCC and connect students to college support services and resources to enhance student success and retention.
- Work effectively with students and staff of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
- Participate in departmental and advisory meetings as assigned.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, stoop, and lift lightweight objects. Requires normal hearing, speaking, and visual acuity. Work is performed indoors in a classroom or lab with potential exposure to lab chemicals.
Education and ExperienceMaster’s degree in biological sciences or related field, OR a master’s degree in another field with a minimum of 27 graduate quarter (or 18 semester) hours in the primary teaching field. Provisional: bachelor’s degree plus 27 graduate quarter hours in the field(s) and active pursuit of master’s or doctorate.

Salary and Compensation InformationCourses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation per credit and for meetings, training, and advising is outlined in the internal pay scale documents.
Additional Employment Conditions- All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers are contingent on Oregon residency at the time work commences.
- Employment is subject to completion of a post-offer criminal background check.
- The institution does not offer visa sponsorship; the I‑9 form must be completed within three days of hire.
