Overview
Minnesota Virtual Academy (MNVA) is seeking a part-time Medical Careers Teacher with a focus in the area of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The Medical Careers Teacher will provide hands-on training, education, and support to students and other stakeholders in the MNVA health sciences programs. The position involves facilitating simulation-based learning, designing instructional materials, and promoting best practices in clinical and professional skills training.
The position is both virtual and in-person. Travel is required. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication, technology, and collaboration skills. The position begins with the school year.
- Facilitate simulation-based learning and hands-on training in health sciences.
- Design instructional materials and promote best practices in clinical and professional skills training.
- Support students and other stakeholders in MNVA health sciences programs.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format (virtual and in-person) with required travel.
- Current Minnesota Department of Education (PELSB) Medical Careers teaching license, or the ability to obtain.
- State driver’s license.
- State EMT certification.
- Certified as a CPR Instructor in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association.
- Certified as a First Aid Instructor by the American Heart Association or the National Safety Council.
- State-certified trainer for EMR and EMT.
- Demonstrates problem solving ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and work with peers.
- Proficiency in using online learning platforms and technology to facilitate instruction.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Self-motivated and able to manage responsibilities effectively in a remote work environment.
- Demonstrates continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
- Working knowledge of the subject matter, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs.
- Travels to school district buildings, hands-on skills training sessions, and professional meetings as required.
