Position: MD Mentor (Part-Time)

Prepory is the premier college admissions counseling organization. Our innovative, holistic approach to college counseling is reshaping how students apply to college, find their "fit," and ultimately receive admission to their dream schools.

Through our college admissions practice, we guide high school students along their college admissions and application journey. We have worked with over 9,000 students globally, and this would not be possible without our amazing college admissions coaches. We are looking for individuals who can serve as reliable, passionate, and informative guides for students who are embarking on their college admissions journey.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Prepory’s Admissions Coaches to align on students’ progress and set milestones for individualized application strategies.
  • Conduct one-on-one advising sessions via Zoom with each of your students to provide tailored support based on their goals and profile.
  • Successfully and conscientiously manage a cohort of medical school applicants.
  • Advisors are expected to be able to support a minimum of five (5) applicants each application cycle.
  • Conduct research as needed to support your advising sessions and those of your Admissions Coach colleagues, clarify inquiries, or present valuable information/resources to your students.
  • Be forward-thinking and strategic in the advice and guidance provided to your students, ensuring that you are an expert and up-to-date on the admissions issues they are facing.
  • Provide interview preparation and support, including conducting mock interview sessions, during the application process.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Admissions Coaches to stay up-to-date on students’ progress and conduct committee-informed analyses on application materials.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the cohort of Prepory graduate admissions coaches led by a Lead Coach mentor.
  • Maintain detailed communication with the Program Director and Director of Client Success to provide o ngoing updates on student progress.
Qualifications of our Ideal Candidate
  • Graduated from top-ranked undergraduate institution (e.g., top 50 ranked universities or top 20 liberal arts colleges)
  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of a U.S. medical school required
    .
  • In-depth knowledge of the U.S. medical school admissions process required
    , including AMCAS/AACOMAS systems, secondary applications, MCAT preparation, interview formats (e.g., MMI), and holistic review practices
  • Former medical school admissions experience at an accredited medical school in the US is strongly preferred
    , but we will consider candidates with significant experience in pre-med advising, medical education, or health professions advising
  • Familiarity with the broader landscape of U.S. undergraduate and medical education, including pre-medical advising and pipeline programs
  • support multiple students throughout an entire application cycle
    , typically from planning through interviews and final decisions
  • Availability during after-school hours and on weekends, with flexibility to accommodate students in international time zones, especially during peak admissions periods
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to keep students on track with deadlines and document submission
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, especially in providing constructive feedback on personal statements, activity entries, and secondary essays
