The Office of Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Research (PAIR) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is looking for a Research Specialist to join our team. We are seeking a team-oriented and creative individual who is enthusiastic about data research and enjoys interacting with data end-users who possess varying levels of data comprehension.
Role DescriptionAs our research specialist, you will support critical reporting efforts associated with accreditation, academic program review, and federal compliance. You will respond principally to reporting needs relevant to the UAF College of Indigenous Studies, UAF Community and Technical College, and the UAF eCampus. This position also responds to general inquiries related to student information, student success, enrollment management, transfer and attrition, distance education, developmental education, financial aid, and other areas as required, especially as these topics pertain to rural Alaska, dual enrollment, and career and technical education.
To thrive in this role, you will need proficiency with relational database concepts, as well as data collection and analysis techniques, as needed to translate quantitative and qualitative data into usable information. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. Flexible communication skills and a collaborative customer service attitude will also serve you well.
Minimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, science, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Six months of research experience in a field relevant to the research, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, science, business, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThis position is based on the Troth Yeddha' Campus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. While in-person work arrangement is preferred, hybrid or remote work may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates who reside within Alaska, in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
