The Online Manager is a dual-role position that includes both instructional and administrative responsibilities. The position supports the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of online courses while ensuring academic quality, student success, and compliance with applicable standards. The Online Manager supervises and supports online faculty, collaborates with instructional technology staff, and promotes best practices in online teaching and learning. The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Communications for all online Speech courses, and the Chair of the Department of Fine Arts for all online Fine Arts courses.
Qualifications- A minimum of a master’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution of higher education, with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, Speech or Fine Arts.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching in an online or distance education environment in higher education.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in higher education preferred.
- Knowledge of Blackboard online learning management system (LMS).
- Knowledge of best practices in online pedagogy, course design, accessibility, and student engagement.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty effectively.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use assessment results to improve online learning outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, administrators, and technical support personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Plan and deliver course content in alignment with approved curriculum and learning outcomes, and in a manner that fosters student learning and success.
- Use effective teaching strategies to engage a diverse student population.
- Assist with departmental curriculum development and updates, and participate in program and core learning outcomes assessments and reporting.
- Participate in college and departmental committees, meetings, and events.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in both discipline knowledge and teaching practices.
- Meet deadlines for course certification, attendance, and grading.
- Oversee the administration and operation of Speech and Fine Arts online courses, to include scheduling and coordinating course offerings, and ensuring course quality and consistency across sections.
- Supervise and provide support, guidance, and evaluation for online faculty.
- Assist with hiring and evaluating online adjuncts, as requested by the Department Chair and as required by Human Resource policy.
- Address student and faculty concerns related to online learning.
- Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to enhance course quality and student engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned in consultation with the Department Chair.
