Academic and Finance Counselor

Compensation Range:
Hourly: $21.63 - $24.04

We are looking for an Academic & Finance Counselor (AFC) to work full‑time from home, guiding students in both academic and financial matters. The AFC will provide personalized advising, interpret policies, and connect students to the right resources to help them succeed.

• Serve as a trusted guide, explaining university policies, financial aid guidelines, and TitleIV regulations in a clear, supportive way.
• Provide personalized, student‑centered support to help each learner stay on track toward their goals.
• Manage your student caseload proactively and communicate across phone, email, video, and chat.
• Handle student accounts receivable, including document collection, student payments, and financial aid; monitor voucher collection and submission for the finance team.
• Facilitate referrals to other departments and campus resources as needed.
• Navigate multiple systems and reports to stay informed and ensure seamless student support.
• Handle escalated student concerns effectively, turning challenges into solutions.
• Execute outreach and communication strategies that strengthen engagement and student success.
• Monitor academic progress, identify at‑risk populations, and provide resolutions to assist students in successful program completion.
• Use coaching techniques to motivate students toward graduation and boost satisfaction, persistence, and achievement.
• Collaborate across departments to deliver a connected, positive student experience; share university updates and contribute to special projects.
• Maintain consistent attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

• Education & Experience
  :
  Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum three (3) years of related experience in recruiting, advising, student services, retention, academic counseling, or customer service. Experience in a fast‑paced, student‑focused environment is preferred, as is background in academic advising or course enrollment at a college or university. Experience with online students and financial aid or TitleIX regulations is also preferred.

  Solid understanding of academic and business practices in an online learning environment; familiarity with university policies and procedures; strong customer‑service mindset; teamwork, communication, active listening, de‑escalation skills; self‑motivation and independence; creative problem‑solving; proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and communication tools.
• Must be eligible to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
