Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Director of Learning Strategy, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $400,000/year USD
Location: New York

You've shaped bold academic strategy before and taken full ownership of the results. You've led decisively, not from the sidelines. And your work in learning science isn't theoretical—you've built systems that deliver measurable outcomes and earned credibility to speak publicly about your impact. If that describes you, 2 Hour Learning is seeking its academic leader.

2 Hour Learning has developed a model enabling students to learn at twice the pace in only two hours per day. Mastery-based progression, AI-driven tutoring, and a fundamental reimagining of classroom norms underpin these results. The performance speaks for itself. We now need a leader who can align execution across varied school environments, elevate academic leadership standards, and serve as the authoritative external voice for a movement rooted in evidence-based learning science.

This role is not about academic abstraction. It's a leadership imperative. You will own academic strategy in action, define clear performance benchmarks, surface execution shortfalls, and coach high-performing teams toward tangible outcomes. You'll convert our scientific underpinnings into operational rigor and advocate for this model on the global stage.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop academic frameworks that transform learning science into actionable direction for curriculum development, motivational design, and application architecture.
  • Conduct academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure school teams maintain alignment, accountability, and consistent delivery of results.
  • Analyze data, conduct interviews, and perform observations to produce academic ecosystem assessments that identify the most critical obstacles to accelerated learning and recommend targeted interventions.
  • Ensure strategic alignment by establishing planning rhythms, feedback mechanisms, and milestone tracking that sustain focus on student learning objectives.
  • Serve as the principal representative of 2 Hour Learning in high-profile forums, including keynote presentations and engagements with Ministries of Education, to advance systemic change in global education thinking.
What You Won't Be Doing
  • Work on isolated curriculum initiatives that fail to produce systemic impact.
  • Produce theoretical research disconnected from student outcomes or operational execution.
  • Transfer performance accountability to middle management or external consultants.
  • Depend on reputation or abstract theory to convince skeptical audiences.
Key Responsibilities

Expand and refine 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by aligning execution across school sites, raising leadership performance standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative public advocate for a movement built on rigorous science and demonstrated results.

Basic Requirements
  • Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years in academic or EdTech leadership roles, leading a team of staff/employees (not an informal peer leader role, such as grade-level lead); you must have been responsible for hiring, monitoring performance, coaching, and making termination decisions.
  • Experience driving learning outcomes for students and upholding student performance standards.
  • Experience applying AI or emerging technologies to improve education, such as through personalized learning, adaptive learning, AI agents, etc.
  • Experience managing academic teams of 50+ people (e.g., the teams you managed directly executed curriculum, instruction, or assessment).
  • Experience interacting directly with students, teachers, or school leaders in a professional setting.
