Visiting Assistant Professor of Online Education

The University of Redlands School of Education seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Online Education for a 10‑month full‑time position. The role will lead the transformation of the hybrid teacher preparation curriculum into a fully online modality while teaching courses in the program.

• Serve as an instructional leader and curriculum designer, bridging theory and practice in digital learning.
• Teach courses in the teacher preparation program using online methodologies.
• Develop engaging, interactive online learning experiences that maintain rigor and promote active learning.
• Utilize diverse educational technologies to create inclusive, accessible learning environments.
• Model best practices in online pedagogy for teacher candidates.
• Provide timely, meaningful feedback on student work through digital platforms.
• Lead the redesign of hybrid curriculum to fully online delivery, creating digital resources, modules, and assessment tools aligned with best practices.
• Ensure curriculum meets CTC requirements and incorporates Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, and technology specialists on program development and continuous improvement.
• Maintain courses in the university’s Learning Management System, submit grades accurately and on time, and advise teacher candidates on academic progress.
• Contribute to professional development and scholarship in online teacher education.

Required qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or a related field (ABD considered).
• Demonstrated expertise in online pedagogy and instructional design for higher education.
• Proven experience teaching in teacher‑preparation programs (online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face).
• Advanced proficiency with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) and educational technologies.
• Experience designing and delivering fully online courses with evidence of student success.
• Experience with diverse learners and a strong grasp of current academic content standards.
• Knowledge of UDL principles and accessibility standards.
• Commitment to equity‑minded teaching practices.

Strongly desired qualifications:

• California teaching credential.
• Minimum three years of K‑12 classroom teaching experience.
• Expertise in synchronous and asynchronous online teaching methodologies.
• Familiarity with video‑based teaching and feedback tools.
• Commitment to engaging minoritized learners in digital spaces.
• Published scholarship or presentations on online learning in teacher education.
• Experience with Quality Matters or similar online course quality frameworks.
• Experience with CTC accreditation processes and requirements.

Preferred K‑12 teaching background in one of the following high‑need areas:

• Special Education (Mild to Moderate)
• Single Subject (Mathematics, Science, or Foreign Languages)
• Multiple Subject
