Job Overview
Renton Technical College is seeking an Anesthesia Technician Instructor for a part‑time teaching position in the Anesthesia Technician Program. The instructor will teach courses for the Associate Degree program and collaborate with the program’s advisory committee. This position reports to the Dean of Health & Human Services.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate multicultural competence and create an inclusive learning environment.
- Effectively teach the adopted curriculum both on campus and at off‑campus clinical sites.
- Develop and administer tests for individual courses.
- Ensure the orderly conduct of program learning activities and evaluate student progress toward learning objectives.
- Maintain accurate individual student records, documentation, attendance, and program reports and submit them in a timely manner.
- Enter student grade records and final grades into the Canvas LMS.
- Ensure instructional quality aligns with CAAHEP and ASATT standards.
- Communicate professionally and effectively in writing and orally with college employees, departments, and outside agencies.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Perform related projects and assignments as assigned.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) required;
Anesthesia Technologist preferred. - Minimum three years of experience in Anesthesia Technology.
- Current immunization and health documentation within six months of hire.
- ACLS & PALS certification required within one year of hire.
- First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of initial employment.
- Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program preferred.
- Prior experience with simulation training and teaching preferred.
- Interest in innovative curriculum and delivery.
- Ability to use varied teaching strategies for different learning styles.
- Confidentiality, critical thinking, and independent judgment.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and effective organization of multiple tasks.
- Ability to promote universal design and accessibility, with a willingness to learn content production within six months of hire.
- Professional representation of the college with tact, discretion, and courtesy.
- Proficiency in a language other than English is preferred:
Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, or Chinese.
Instruction hours align with standard business hours Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The position involves walking around classrooms and labs, moving or lifting up to 50 pounds for lab simulation, frequent computer use, and meeting across campus. Driving or traveling to trainings and conferences may be necessary. The role is primarily in‑person/on‑campus; remote work may occur as business permits.
Compensation& Benefits
This adjunct faculty position is contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,090 per credit, including scheduled class time and final exam days. Guided practice instructional credits receive an additional 1.33 factor. Future salary increases up to $1,640 per credit may occur based on service and professional development. Master’s or Doctorate degree stipends are paid at a prorated per‑credit rate.
