Job Summary
The UAA School of Nursing is seeking Adjunct Faculty for all locations, including the main Anchorage Campus and extended sites throughout Alaska. The role involves developing and delivering instructional materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, in clinical/skills lab or simulation settings, in accordance with program curriculum and learning objectives.
Adjunct faculty will provide guidance and support to students, including mentoring, advising, and clinical assistance. They will work effectively with colleagues and students of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver instructional materials, lectures, assignments, and assessments in clinical or simulation settings.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and clinical assistance to undergraduate nursing students.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and with students from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Maintain commitment to inclusive learning environments and promote student success.
- Minimum:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. - Eligible for and maintain unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in State of Alaska.
- Clinical experience in Community Health, Psych/Mental Health, OB, or Medical Surgical/Critical Care.
- Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Nursing. - Preferred:
Experience in additional clinical specialties. - Previous teaching experience and strong interpersonal communication skills are highly desirable.
- Ability to advocate for the School of Nursing mission, vision and core values.
This part-time adjunct faculty position may be located on the Anchorage Campus or at one of the extended sites throughout the State of Alaska. Salary is based on experience and the number of previous semesters taught within the University of Alaska.
Adjunct positions are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Acceptance into the adjunct pool is not an offer of appointment, and prior teaching does not guarantee a position in subsequent semesters. Hiring decisions are made each semester according to schedule needs. This is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.
The University of Alaska requires employees to work onsite based on operational and business needs. Hybrid and remote work arrangements may be considered only for positions specifically designated and advertised as eligible. Any approved arrangement will be based on duties, operational needs, and the employee’s ability to perform the work remotely.
This is an at-will, union-represented adjunct position and may be canceled based on university needs. The position is represented by United Academic – Adjuncts, AAUP-AFT/AFL-CIO.
