Job Summary

Position:
Teacher – Tennessee Virtual Academy (TNVA). Full‑time remote teaching role with occasional travel to state testing and professional development. Preferred for candidates residing in Tennessee, but applicants in surrounding states may be considered. Candidates must hold an active Tennessee teaching certificate and be able to attend in‑person PDs and other school events.

Essential Functions
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students, delivering college‑level content in an online environment.
  • Develop and adapt instructional materials to individual student mastery levels.
  • Maintain grade book integrity, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns.
  • Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
  • Build and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with parents and learning coaches in a timely manner.
  • Support parents and staff with curricular and technical issues in the virtual classroom.
  • Travel as required (approximately once per month, ~20% of the time) for PDs, testing and school events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Active Tennessee teaching license.
  • Clear background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with the proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in technology use.
  • Experience teaching online and/or in a brick‑and‑mortem setting.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to collaborate with other teachers to analyze student data and drive instructional decisions.
  • Receptive to coaching and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Maintenance of teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary of $50,000 plus performance‑bonus eligibility. Salary will be determined based on education, experience, work location, expected quality and quantity of work, and travel requirements.

Working Conditions

Full‑time remote role, 40+ hours per week, typical home office schedule 9‑5 (or 8‑4). Requires professional home office setup without distractions.
