Pay Range

Salary offers will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description

Teach ENG 300 Creative Writing Selected Topics for 3 credits in the fall 2026 semester in-person on the Syracuse University campus. Start date for this position is 8/17/2026, with first day of class 8/24/2026. The hiring rate is based on per-credit rate history within the hiring department. All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment. Current internal applicants receive priority consideration.

  • Experience teaching in higher education
Responsibilities
  • Develop or update a class syllabus.
  • Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
  • Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
  • Meet all designated class periods. If unable to meet due to illness or emergency, exercise best effort to reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair or designated contact.
  • Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
  • Submit completed final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Complete all other course-related duties as outlined by department policies for part-time instructors.
