Overview
The Department of Writing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage offers courses leading to and including Tier 1 Writing Literacy General Education Requirements. This includes all 0-, 100- and 200-level Writing courses.
Adjunct positions are on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment; applicants are hired based on departmental need.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of accepted instruction methods.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Public speaking skills.
- Student support skills.
- 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in adult education settings, with graduate‑level coursework in the teaching of writing.
- Master's degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, or TESOL.
This is a part‑time, adjunct instructor position. Minimum salaries are set by the United Academic – Adjunct, AAUP‑AT/AFL‑CIO collective bargaining agreement and may vary based on education and experience.
This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed; submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.
The position is at‑will and union‑represented; it may be cancelled based upon the needs of the university.
Employees are required to work on‑site based on operational and business needs. Hybrid and remote work arrangements may be considered only for positions specifically designated as eligible; any approved arrangement will depend on the duties, operational needs and the employee’s ability to perform the work remotely.
