Job Description
Position Summary:
Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Integrated Advising Collaborative (IAC) seeks an Academic Advisor (AA) to join acoordinated, student-centered advising team. Academic Advisorspartner closely with Co-op & Career Advisors (CCAs) and Faculty Advisors (FAs) to provide proactive, holistic support that connectsacademic planning, personal development, and career readinessthroughout the student lifecycle.
Academic Advisors serve as the primary point of contact for academic planning and progression, helping students develop clear,achievable pathways to graduation. Through a developmental advisingphilosophy, AAs empower students to make informed decisions, buildself-advocacy skills, and connect their academic experience tolong-term goals.
As part of the IAC model, Academic Advisors contribute to a sharedadvising structure that ensures coordinated communication, timelyinterventions, and a seamless student experience from matriculationthrough graduation.

Responsibilities:
Academic Advising &
Coaching:
- Provide individualized and group advising on academic planning,degree requirements, policies, and registration.
- Support students in developing and maintaining academic plansaligned with timely graduation.
- Coach students in study skills, time management,decision-making, and self-advocacy.
- Assist students in navigating transitions, including first-yearadjustment, major exploration, and academic challenges.
- Monitor academic progress and identify students in need of additional support.
- Provide outreach in response to alerts, progress reports, and advising triggers.
- Support students on academic probation through structuredintervention plans and ongoing coaching.
- Connect students with campus resources including tutoring,accessibility services, and wellness supports.
- First Year:
Support transition, academic onboarding, and earlyengagement. - Second Year:
Guide academic planning and readiness for co-oppreparation. - Third Year:
Support academic progression during co-opparticipation and course sequencing. - Fourth Year:
Ensure degree completion and supportpost-graduation planning.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with CCAs and Faculty Advisors to delivercoordinated, holistic student support.
- Participate in joint advising meetings, case reviews, andshared success planning.
- Maintain shared advising notes and contribute to alignedcommunication strategies.
- Ensure seamless referrals and coordinated handoffs across theadvising team.
- Serve as an integral member of the School Advising Team within assigned school(s).
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on student success strategies.
- Align advising with curriculum requirements and programpathways.
- Maintain accurate, timely advising records in institutionalsystems (e.g., Navigate, Banner).
- Ensure documentation meets institutional standards for quality and timeliness.
- Monitor academic standing and progression benchmarks.
- Participate in required IAC training and professional development.
- Engage in assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current on advising practices, student development theory,and institutional systems.
Required:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in academic advising, student support,or related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to working with diverse student populations.
- Experience with academic advising technologies (e.g., EABNavigate, Banner)
- Familiarity with developmental advising and NACADAcompetencies
