Overview
Certified Support Staff at Missouri Virtual Academy (MOVA) promotes student success by implementing comprehensive counseling programs, guiding learners in academic, personal, social, and career development.
Responsibilities- Plan and review postsecondary options for students, including education, military, and workforce pathways.
- Apply academic achievement strategies and manage emotions, fostering interpersonal skills.
- Hold quarterly meetings with each student on the caseload to review graduation plans and post‑secondary goals.
- Deliver classroom instruction aligned with student‑success standards.
- Review transcripts and academic documentation for new and returning students.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop four‑year graduation plans and audit schedules for graduation candidacy.
- Advise on course placements, including Advanced Placement and challenge pathways.
- Analyze student data to develop data‑driven intervention action plans.
- Provide short‑term counseling and refer students for long‑term supports as needed.
- Support standardized testing, parent education, and staff development initiatives.
- Advocate for students at IEP meetings and other student‑focused meetings.
- Travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, testing, and school needs.
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of counseling and/or advisement experience.
- Current Missouri School Counselor license (or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment if licensed in another state).
- Successful completion of background check.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, web‑based search engines, and database systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Master’s degree in school counseling.
- Experience as a teacher or in a customer‑service environment.
- Familiarity with state's, local, and federal laws and mandated reporting.
- Background in a charter school setting.
- Experience with state career‑planning systems, such as Pathfinder.
- Experience with distance learning platforms.
- Must hold a Missouri School Counselor license; if licensed in another state, must obtain Missouri licensure within 60 days of hire.
- Must reside in Missouri; remote work is possible for candidates in surrounding states.
Full‑time remote position, 40+ hours per week. Requires an independent, distraction‑free home office during standard work hours (typically 9‑5 or 8‑4). Travel up to 20% of the time may be required.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $44,452 – $66,678 per year, with potential for performance bonuses. Eligible employees receive a robust benefits package, including health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
