Education Manager – Head Start Program Position Summary

The Education Manager provides leadership, oversight, and administration of the Head Start Education Content Area. This position ensures high-quality educational services that support school readiness, compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, and continuous program improvement through staff supervision, training, monitoring, and program management. The Education Manager collaborates with staff, families, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams to promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in early childhood education, curriculum development, or program management.
  • Experience supervising staff, developing curriculum, providing training, and using data to improve program outcomes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience with grant administration and child assessment/data management systems.
Employment Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, required auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of required criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Ability to meet state and federal childcare licensing requirements, including health screening, immunization documentation, and TB screening.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the Head Start Education Content Area, ensuring program quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate Center Coordinators and support effective operations across program sites.
  • Guide educational planning, curriculum implementation, school readiness initiatives, and Home-Based services.
  • Build collaborative relationships with families, staff, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Represent the program in community partnerships and professional organizations.
Training, Monitoring, and Quality Improvement
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to teaching staff.
  • Conduct classroom observations and support individualized approaches to child development and learning.
  • Monitor compliance with Head Start standards and analyze child outcome and program data.
  • Prepare reports and support continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Promote professional development and effective use of child assessment data.
  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of program information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of early childhood education, child development, and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and build positive working relationships.
Working Conditions

Requires occasional travel between program sites, classrooms, homes, and community locations. Work is performed in both office and educational settings and includes classroom observations, meetings, and training activities.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is based on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.
