Special Education Teacher
Position Overview
Arizona High School Counselor Teaching Certification Required. Position is remote and strongly preferred for candidates who reside in Arizona; candidates from surrounding states may also be considered. The Interventionist works with the "At‑Risk" student population to provide remediation and support academic goals, increasing growth in key areas.
Essential Functions- Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
- Modify and/or adapt the K12 curriculum in alignment with the state’s content standards to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the goals of targeted students through individualized and small group sessions.
- Educate parents on various instructional strategies.
- Ensure the implementation of the RTI instructional system to increase student achievement.
- Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier.
- Use data to help teachers plan whole and small group instruction.
- Provide guidance to teachers on identifying and grouping students who need additional help.
- Collect and maintain all RTI data (lists of eligible students, intervention plans).
- Serve as a daily resource to school administrators, leadership teams, and other stakeholders regarding RTI issues.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and additional district personnel to coordinate and track Tier2 interventions.
- Provide ongoing training and support to school/district staff regarding RTI and the implementation of RTI and data collection procedures.
- Support teachers in documenting student progress & work with the special education team to facilitate eligibility for special education.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face‑to‑face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, maintaining a professional home office without distraction during the workday (9‑5 or 8‑4).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree AND active state teaching license.
- Ability to clear a required background check.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick‑and‑mortar environment.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
Stride, Inc. offers a salary based on education, experience, and qualifications, with a typical salary structure in the bottom half of the range. Anticipated salary range: $40,007.00 – $60,010.00 annually. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Compensation is not guaranteed and can vary by factors such as geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Benefits may include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
WorkEnvironment
This position is virtual with some required travel for professional development and student testing. The work environment requires an ability to maintain a professional home office and to travel up to 20% of the time.
