Job Overview
Remote Middle School Science Teacher for West Virginia Virtual Academy (WVVA), a partner of K12/Stride for the 26/27 school year. This position is full‑time, remote, with a typical 40+ hour work week.
Location & Remote Requirements- Work from a professional home office, free of distractions.
- Travel occasionally for school functions such as state testing and professional development (average once per month and approximately 20% of the time).
- Must be available for synchronous instruction and virtual meetings during school hours (9‑5 or 8‑4).
- Active, state teaching license in West Virginia. If certification is from another state, reciprocity must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
- Must pass a required background check.
- Maintain teacher certification and professional development hours.
- Strong preference for West Virginia residents.
- Consideration for residents of surrounding states (Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, or Virginia).
Base salary range: $44,000 – $46,000, with eligibility for a performance bonus and potential stipends. Lowest offers typically in the bottom half of the range. Compensation may vary based on experience, geographic location, and other factors.
Essential Functions- Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Personalize learning for all students and demonstrate belief in every student's success.
- Differentiate instruction based on student mastery levels.
- Augment course content using appropriate online tools under guidance from the principal and coach.
- Maintain grade books, manage student progress, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators of performance concerns.
- Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families; communicate regularly and respond promptly to students and learning coaches/parents.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic troubleshooting issues in the virtual classroom.
- Travel as required for professional development and student testing (approx. 20% of the time).

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license.
- Clear background check.
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children with technology use.
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick‑and‑mortar environment.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms.
- Ability to collaborate with other teachers to analyze and use student data for instructional decisions.
- Receptive to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
- Adaptable to change and committed to excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Quick learner of new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Maintain certification and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
