- Apply academic achievement strategies and manage emotions with interpersonal skills.
- Focus students and families on college and career readiness, meeting quarterly with all students on caseload to review graduation plans and post‑secondary options.
- Deliver classroom instruction based on student success standards.
- Review transcripts and academic documentation for new and returning students.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop a four‑year graduation plan and audit schedules for candidacy for graduation.
- Assist students in course placement, including recommendations on Advanced Placement (AP) and other enrichment opportunities.
- Analyze student data and develop data‑driven intervention action plans.
- Provide short‑term counseling and refer for long‑term support as necessary.
- Provide a support system that strengthens teachers, staff, and parents.
- Support standardized testing program, parent education, and staff development.
- Advocate for students at individualized education program (IEP) meetings and other student‑focused meetings.
- Act as a change agent to improve equity, access, achievement, and opportunities for all students.
- Travel up to 20% of the time for face‑to‑face professional development, student testing, and other school‑required activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of counseling and/or advisement experience.
- School counselor license.
- Clearance of required background check.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web‑based search engines, and database systems.
- Flexible schedule; ability to travel as needed.
- Master’s degree in school counseling.
- Experience with distance learning.
- Advanced coursework in counseling and administration.
- Experience as a teacher.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
- Experience with local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting.
- Experience in a charter school environment preferred.
- Experience with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or other career planning platforms/tools.
This is a virtual, full‑time position requiring independent work from a professional home office. The role typically requires 40+ hours per week, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility defined by school schedule. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time for professional development, testing, or other required activities.
