Adjunct History Faculty – Online

Adjunct professor of history faculty position to facilitate US history and/or world history online courses. Faculty ensure that student learning objectives are met and that every online student learns at the highest level possible. Faculty must be able to advance the Evangelical Christian mission of the institution. CIU utilizes Canvas for its learning management system. Teaching load varies.

• Provide support for online US History and World History courses.
• Endorse and model professional standards and proficiencies.
• Assist regularly with assessment of CIU’s history curriculum.
• Yearly affirm the institution’s mission, doctrinal position, community standards, and CIU’s position on human origins (Faculty Guide).

• Experience teaching US History and/or World History related courses.
• Knowledge of the disciplines associated with history, including pedagogy, information literacy, and research.
• Ability to teach effectively at the college level.
• Competency in utilizing learning management tools and classroom technology.
• Competent in facilitating online education.
• Ability to use technology effectively in teaching as appropriate.
• An understanding of the needs and trends associated with traditional college age students.
• Commitment to CIU’s mission and vision.
• Commitment to live within the standards of the CIU community.
• Minimum master’s degree in history or related field from an accredited university.
• Doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in history or closely related field is preferred.
