Adjunct Faculty – Design Online
The Department of Design welcomes applications for adjunct teaching online for our Design Thinking certificate and MFA program. Positions may be needed in areas related to Human Centered Design, Design Thinking, Empathy, Design Thinking Studios, Environment Design, Design Management, Storytelling, Collaboration, Research Methods, Instructional Design, and related disciplines.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in the candidate’s specialization area, primarily online.
- Evaluate students in every course, including summer sessions.
- Participate in course development, assessment, and faculty meetings as required.
- At least a Master’s degree in the field/discipline being taught, with 18 hours of related coursework.
- Subject to Provost approval, extensive professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prior teaching experience in higher education.
- Design industry experience and/or relevant licensing and certifications.
Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of their post‑secondary transcripts with the application. If official transcripts are on file with the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such may be submitted in lieu of transcripts. Official transcripts of all post‑secondary coursework will be required upon selection for hire.
Benefits- Salary: $1,295 per credit hour (1 credit) to $3,885 per credit hour (3 credits).
- Eligible for telework.
- Hours per week vary depending on courses taught.
- Months per year: 9–12.
