Description of Work

The Department of Entomology at the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) invites applications for a Lecturer position.

This is a 12‑month, 100% teaching, non‑tenure track appointment focused on teaching, academic advising, and student‑centered support for the department’s online M.S. program in Entomology. The program has 50‑70 students per semester, primarily non‑traditional, with over 20 course offerings across undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful candidate will teach a suite of undergraduate and graduate online classes, including forensic entomology and integrated pest management courses; serve as an academic advisor to online M.S. students; and provide direct support for student progress, retention, and degree completion. Additional duties include participation in retention and placement activities, teaching outcomes assessment, instructional improvement, and teaching scholarship. The role may also involve resident instruction as needed.

Other responsibilities include engagement with department public programs such as exhibits, outreach, public relations, presenting public lectures, writing popular articles, and student recruiting. Service on committees and contributing to university, institute, college, and department programs is also expected. Duties may evolve based on departmental needs.

IANR and the Entomology Department promote inclusive learning, research, and extension environments, valuing each individual’s contribution to collective wellbeing and the mission delivery.
