Position Summary
Adjunct faculty serve as temporary part‑time faculty and are appointed on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline and includes developing and revising instructional materials, presenting material in an organized manner, evaluating student learning, maintaining student records, and providing at least one office hour per week per assigned course.
Compensation & PaymentAdjunct faculty are paid bi‑weekly at $778 per credit hour or at an hourly rate where applicable. The maximum instructional load is nine (9) credit hours per semester unless otherwise approved by the Vice‑President of Learning and the Vice‑President of HR and Legal Activities.
Remote Work OptionsRemote or hybrid work may be approved for adjunct employees located within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas. Requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work is not permitted for employees located outside the United States.
Responsibilities- Teach day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned.
- Develop and revise instructional materials and course outlines.
- Present course material in an organized and engaging manner.
- Evaluate student learning and maintain accurate student records.
- Provide at least one office hour per week per assigned course.
- Participate in Adjunct Professional Development activities.
- Demonstrate and promote the college values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
- Master’s degree (or closely related field) with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in a qualified discipline.
- Prior teaching experience, including face‑to‑face, hybrid and online courses, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and other technology‑enhanced curriculum tools.
- Access to reliable home internet, a personal computer and a telephone.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn multiple technology platforms.
- Experience working with Native American, Latinx and other adult/minority students (preferred).
- Tuition waiver up to four (4) credit hours per semester and one (1) health‑related home‑based class.
