Teaching Support Specialist I
Location:
Ithaca, New York (eligible for remote work within New York State).
Part‑time – 50% FTE, one‑year term appointment contingent upon available work, funding, and performance.

Responsibilities- Maintain up‑to‑date materials and best practices for distance learning on the Moodle platform, serving as lead educator for three web‑based course module sessions.
- Recruit program participants, cultivate engagement, provide feedback on assignments, address content and technology questions (5‑6 days per week), and organize evaluation of sessions.
- Hold occasional office hours via Zoom and update course content as necessary.
- Collaborate with supervisor to review course evaluations and update materials and approaches based on lessons learned, facilitating significant learning experiences among participants.
- Assist in editing Moodle courses run by CGBL and answer questions from CCE educators; support other instructors with course editing.
- Bachelor’s degree and up to 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
- Background in instructional design in online course environments (Moodle platform).
- Background in organic gardening, gardening design, and/or school and community garden management.
- Adult teaching or education experience of 5+ years, preferably online.
- High-quality customer service and communication skills, responsive to emails.
- Ability to problem‑solve independently.
- Content knowledge appropriate to the course topics.
- Experience incorporating multiple community perspectives.
- Master’s degree in instructional design, with experience creating, editing, and instructing through online courses.
