Compensation and Work Arrangement
Compensation: $801 per credit hour. Contractual compensation at $801 per credit hour or at an hourly rate as applicable.
Remote or hybrid work may be approved for adjunct faculty within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. Remote work options outside the United States are not permitted. All requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources.
Position SummaryAdjunct faculty serve as temporary part‑time faculty appointed on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline.
Responsibilities- Develop and revise instructional materials.
- Present material in an organized manner.
- Evaluate student learning and maintain student records.
- Teach day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned.
- Teach at the main and/or satellite campuses as assigned.
- Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course.
- Participate in Adjunct Professional Development activities.
- Demonstrate and promote the school values of innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Preference given to candidates with prior teaching experience.
- Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses.
- Ability to use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and other technology‑enhanced curriculum.
- Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone required.
- Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.

Benefits- Adjunct faculty are paid biweekly.
- Adjunct faculty teaching one or more credit classes are eligible for a tuition waiver benefit up to four credit hours per semester, plus one credit HHPC Fitness Conditioning class.
