The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach ARI 372 Etching & Relief, a three‑credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026.
Introductory etching and relief techniques, including: single‑ and multi‑color woodcut, hard ground line etching, aquatint, scraping and burnishing, soft ground, drypoint, multi‑color printing, and editioning. Includes a history and contemporary uses of etching and relief printmaking.
Qualifications- MFA or equivalent.
- Experience teaching etching & relief print processes.
This is a 14 week, 3-credit class that meets once per week and demands 6+ hours per week outside preparation for 10 total hours per week.
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on competencies and performance levels.
- Meeting all designated class periods. If unable to meet due to illness or emergency, best effort to reschedule or obtain a substitute; notify department chair.
- Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
- Some lifting associated with printing processes.
