Online Mentor Teacher
The Online Mentor Teacher is responsible for collaborating with the counseling staff, students, families, and online platforms to support students taking online courses throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities Administrative and Enrollment Management- Enroll students in online courses as requested by the counselor in a timely manner
- Collect and manage online permission forms and coordinate parent information with online platforms and registration materials
- Upload 504 and IEP plans to ensure all student accommodations are met
- Maintain accurate mentor logs of two‑way communication with all online students
- Record student grades at the end of the semester and input daily attendance
- Communicate student progress and/or concerns to appropriate team members
- Conduct private, professional conferences with students at least once a week to set goals and monitor progress
- Identify and assist students who are struggling with course content or pacing
- Facilitate and support communication between students and their online teachers
- Clearly communicate all course timelines and end dates to both students and parents, providing proactive reminders as needed
- Proctor exams and explain exam policies and procedures to students
- Maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment in the classroom
- Monitor classroom, utilizing proximity control amongst other strategies, to help support student focus
- Establish and enforce clear classroom expectations as well as all school‑wide expectations throughout the year
- Teaching certificate
- Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills; ability to teach organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with counselor, school staff, students, and parents
- Technical proficiency in working with online platforms and training
- Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with outside stakeholders and online agencies
- Understanding of 504 and IEP accommodations and ability to implement supports for students within an online environment
- Commitment to professional development by attending virtual or face‑to‑face trainings
