Type:
Full Time. Salary: $65,966.20 - $71,432.40 per year. Remote work: up to 8 hours per week remote with supervisor approval; 32 hours on campus per week.

Job Summary

The Physics instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for the program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of a master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration (a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours) in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of full‑time, paid, in‑field work experience, including competencies, skills, and knowledge expected to be taught for online courses.

  • Knowledge of academic course standards for degree, diploma, and technical certificates of credit curriculum.
  • Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory.

  • Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content.
  • Skill to make timely decisions to solve problems.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Knowledgeable of common software programs (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to implement technology into instruction.
Major Duties
  • Under the general supervision of the Dean, faculty prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses.
  • Update course syllabi using college-provided template.
  • Provide classroom and/or online instruction in the theory and practical application of courses.
  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives based on established course grading requirements.
  • Measure program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submit results to the department head.
  • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete college and state-mandated professional development training as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in the industry/business community and maintain contact with the business/industry community and professional organizations.
  • Access student information from college-wide data systems for advisement and registration purposes.
  • Maintain a copy of up‑to‑date Knowledge Management System (KMS) program standards and course standards to use as reference in curriculum development and revision.
  • Participate in commencement, open house, orientation, and other Augusta Technical College activities.
  • Establish an environment conducive to learning in the classroom and/or laboratory by keeping areas clean, maintaining equipment in safe order, posting safety procedures, and establishing a safety program.
  • Maintain course content that is current, well‑organized, and related to course objectives using a variety of learning modalities.
  • Complete the Learning Management System (LMS) training, implement courses into the LMS, and teach online courses as required.
  • Maintain credentials, licensure, and certifications required for teaching and for the profession.
  • Demonstrate proper classroom/lab management.
  • Maintain clearly communicated office hours and respond to all correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Counsel high-risk students and refer them to the appropriate college resource.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in instructional delivery by analyzing student performance and adjusting instruction as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
