Position Description About The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences:
The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences is a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of student and faculty scholars working together to advance excellence in research, teaching, and learning. Our 30 majors and 6 graduate programs prioritize building career-ready skills and include opportunities to engage with faculty in learning environments inside and outside of the classroom.
We encourage students to study abroad in our signature two-week faculty led programs, conduct research projects with distinguished faculty members, pursue internships, and leverage all of the unique cultural experiences New York City has to offer. Approximately 85% of our graduates either find employment or enroll in a graduate program related to their field of study within a year of graduation.
The Department of Religion and Philosophy seeks adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate philosophy courses, such as Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics, on a rolling, per course basis. We value excellence in and commitment to teaching a diverse student population, as well as historically-informed, inclusive approaches to the discipline.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
- Teach courses such as Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics
- Contribute to the academic mission of the department through high-quality instruction and engagement with students
- Prepare course materials, syllabi, and assessments
- Provide timely feedback on student progress and assignments
- Ensure active participation and engagement of students
- Support a diverse and inclusive learning environment
- Adhere to the University's mission and values, submit grades ontime and otherwise comply with related requests from the chair
- Master’s degree in Philosophy or a related field required;
Doctorate preferred - Preference will be given to candidates with proven teachingexcellence
Experience:
- Instructor $1477.28 per credit
- Assistant Professor $1526.25 per credit
- Associate Professor $1575.65 per credit
- Professor $1625.04 per credit
