Online Secondary English/Speech Teachers – Three-Quarter Time Position
Idaho Home Learning Academy (IHLA) is seeking innovative high school instructors to teach online. These positions are three-quarter time (.75 contract, approximately 25.5 hours per week), and teachers work remotely. Secondary instructors facilitate a customized learning experience for students in grades 9 through 12. Applicants must be willing to learn new software programs, build strong relationships with students, and develop online teaching skills.

Instruction may be delivered from your own home or any location with reliable internet access. Employees are responsible for maintaining adequate internet bandwidth to operate Zoom and other online platforms. Hours for this three-quarter-time position are flexible, but substantial daytime availability is required between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time, including for scheduled meetings such as IEP and 504 meetings.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. A degree specifically in education is not required, but preference will be given to applicants who reside in Idaho and hold a current teaching credential earned through an accredited certification program. Applicants who have a qualifying bachelor's degree but not a teaching license must be willing to pursue licensure through the ABCTE program (an alternate route to teaching), with support from the district.
Employees may not hold a certified teaching contract with another school district, private school, or public charter school while employed at IHLA.
Salary is placed on IHLA's board-approved salary schedule based on education and verified experience; see General Education Teacher Salary Schedule. This is a .75 contract (an estimated minimum of 25.5 hours per week). At this contract level, teachers are eligible for PERSI retirement, Standard Life/AD&D insurance, and voluntary American Fidelity and 401(k) options; group medical/dental coverage is reserved for employees working 30+ hours per week.
Teachers with qualifying college credit beyond their base degree may also be eligible for an annual education stipend.
All new hires must pass a job-related background check, including fingerprinting (at the employee's expense), submitted within five days of hire. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States before beginning employment.
Requirements- Strong technology skills, especially with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Calendar at minimum)

- Grade all student submissions, including quality feedback, within 72 hours (3 school days) of submission, Monday–Friday.
- Respond to all emails and phone calls within 24 hours (one school day) during the school week. Weekend and holiday responses are not expected.
- Provide a minimum of three hours of student meeting availability across at least two separate days each week, managed through the Google Calendar Scheduling tool, with all availability falling between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Students must be able to schedule meetings with at least 24 hours' notice. A set weekly office hour is optional but encouraged.
