The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University is seeking a part-time instructor of Philosophy to teach two sections of PHI
251, Logic, a 3 credit course, during Fall 2026 semester. This course meets in-person on the SU campus. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. Description:

Logic as a formal language, as a component of natural language, and as a basis of a programming language. Varieties of logical systems and techniques. Syntax, semantics and pragmatics. ABD or PhD in Philosophy

The duties associated with the teaching assignment include:
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures. Maintaining regular contact with students. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing department forms for student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
