Overview
Teaching Lab is a nonprofit organization focused on improving teacher professional learning. This role supports the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning and instructional coaching for 6-8 math educators, with emphasis on implementing standards-aligned practice and curricula. This is a project-based contractor role with flexible hours and travel to New York, NY as required.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver professional development sessions, incorporating feedback cycles and adjusting based on participant input
- Provide tailored 1:1 coaching and group learning experiences for educators, in-person and virtual
- Build collaborative, trusting relationships with educators and leaders to strengthen instructional capacity and improve student outcomes
- Support data collection, reporting, and reflection to measure the effectiveness and impact of coaching and professional learning initiatives
Essential Qualifications
- Deep experience coaching educators in grades 6-8 math
- Experience teaching or coaching Illustrative Math, Amplify Desmos Math, Eureka Math, and/or en Vision Math curricula
- At least two (2) years of experience as an instructional coach with evidence of impact on student learning outcomes
- Experience supporting various levels of instruction across classroom settings
- Strong background in instructional best practices and applying strategies to support diverse educators and students
- Experience designing professional development materials or serving as an instructional designer
- Experience facilitating impactful professional learning and coaching in both virtual and in-person settings
- Experience building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders in an education context
- Experience empowering teachers through trusting relationships and supporting shifts in practice and mindset to improve student learning

Travel
On-site with some remote work. Candidates must be able to travel to New York, NY on a weekly basis.

This is a contract, project-based role with no guaranteed hours. Roles are designed to be flexible and aligned with project needs. Coaches/facilitators work with project teams to tailor content to partner needs, ensuring sessions are impactful and engaging, with travel and scheduling determined in advance. Contractors may review and reflect on their practice after engagements to strengthen impact. Discretion and professionalism are essential when handling confidential information.
