Overview

California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) is growing and seeking educators and professionals with a passion for mentoring others. CIAT prepares students for professional success by offering practical training in today’s most competitive technology fields to make sure students are job-ready. Responsibilities
  • Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams on Monday and Tuesday every week.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement.
  • Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Maintain current certifications in subjects taught.
Mastery of Subject Matter
  • Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
  • Connect subject matter with related fields.
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development and involvement in professional organizations and activities.
Adhering to College Policies and Procedures
  • Keep the Student Database updated and accurate for attendance and grade records.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation, instructional quality, class hours, and CIAT policies.
  • Submit documentation such as sign-in attendance, pre-post exams, lab sheets, and required accreditation/state documents.
  • Communicate textbook, handout, supply, equipment, and exam voucher needs with sufficient notice for timely procurement.
  • Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and ideas.
  • Adhere to CIAT business casual attire; clothing should be neat and clean. Polo shirts may be worn. Refer to the CIAT Employee Handbook for full policy.
Requirements
  • Information Technology Instructors must provide official transcripts of a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and certification in the subject taught.
  • Certification in the following area:
    CompTIA Tech+ (or equivalent).
  • At least three years of experience in the field or two years of teaching experience.
  • Synchronous online teaching experience preferred.
  • Advanced subject matter expertise with commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Effective presentation, communication, and technology skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning technologies (e.g., Canvas).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high level of dependability.
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve rapidly and effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and effective lesson plans for diverse learners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Compliance with all college policies and regulations, including academic integrity and student conduct.
  • Ability to embody CIAT’s mission, vision, and values.
Position Details
  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Typically Monday through Friday; weekend and evening hours may be required. Live classes are scheduled twice weekly, Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm (Pacific Time).
  • Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Work Arrangement: Remote work for approved states with residence in CA, NM, FL, or MA.
