Overview

Social and Behavioral Sciences Adjunct Instructor – part-time, variable-hour position. Locations served include California, Florida, New Mexico, and Massachusetts. Remote work is allowed from approved states. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Education, General Education.

Schedule and work environment are designed to accommodate other commitments, with live classes scheduled remotely and some on-site policy references in the employer handbook.

Location: Remote position; work must be conducted from approved locations. In-office requirements may apply as described in policy.

Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday with some evenings. Live classes are scheduled twice weekly from 6:00pm–9:30pm PST (subject to schedule).

• Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams; plan and organize instruction to maximize online student learning and engagement.
• Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to convey subject matter.
• Demonstrate mastery of the subject matter; connect topics to related fields; stay current through professional development and participation in professional organizations.
• Adhere to college policies and procedures; maintain accurate student grade records in the Student Database; ensure compliance with accreditation and class-hour requirements.
• Promote collaboration with staff and participate in implementing new projects; maintain FERPA compliance and secure handling of student data.
• Demonstrate commitment to inclusive, respectful learning environment and to diversity of student backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
• Proactively deliver engaging lesson plans and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administration.

• Appropriate credential, license, or certification required.
• Education:
  
  General Education Instructors – Master’s degree required with official transcripts showing at least 18 units in the subject being taught;
  Information Technology Instructors – Master’s degree and active/certification in subject; official transcripts of Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees may be required.
• Experience:
  
  At least three years in the respective field or two years of teaching experience; ability to work independently with high reliability; strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
• Technical:
  Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Teams; familiarity with learning technologies such as Canvas; strong presentation and communication skills.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues and to contribute to a positive, inclusive culture; commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with field developments.
