California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) is growing and seeks educators with a passion for mentoring and student success. This role supports our mission to prepare students for professional success through practical IT training and certification readiness. The position is remote, with work performed from the state(s) listed above.
Work Arrangement: Work from Home (Remote). Must reside in CA, NM, FL, or MA. Campus locations:
San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM.

Summary: CIAT seeks instructors and professionals who are passionate about mentoring and helping students succeed. We offer practical training in today’s competitive technology fields to ensure students are job-ready, with flexible schedules and an online campus to support working students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams with flexibility for evenings and weekends based on course schedules.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement.
- Align instructional strategies with CIAT’s adult learner framework and emphasize certification readiness.
- Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs and employ effective teaching approaches in a live online format.
- Maintain current certifications in taught subjects and ensure course materials meet college standards for adult learners.
- Select and update instructional materials aligned with course objectives; review course content for accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards for instructional quality and education.
- Actively maintain certification(s) in taught subjects through renewal.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the field and connect subject matter to related areas.
- Stay current through professional development and involvement in professional organizations; participate in meetings, conferences, or workshops.
- Design, update, and align course materials with college standards for adult learners; ensure curriculum remains up to date.
- Review materials for accuracy and provide recommendations for improvements; ensure compliance with accreditation standards for instructional quality.
- Keep the Student Database updated for attendance and grade records; comply with accreditation requirements and CIAT policies.
- Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and ideas.
- Adhere to CIAT business casual attire as per the Employee Handbook; maintain FERPA compliance and secure handling of student data.
- Appropriate certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ISC2 CISSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Fundamentals, or Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator. - Minimum of one year of experience in a training setting, preferably delivering IT certification bootcamps.
- Advanced subject matter expertise preferred; synchronous online teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design for IT certification bootcamps.
- Familiarity with Cert Master, Test Out, or similar training tools; strong presentation skills.
- Flexible, creative, and dependable with ability to work independently and multitask.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning technologies (e.g., Canvas); strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success and an inclusive culture.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching and staying informed on current trends and best practices in higher education.
- Compliance with all college policies, including academic integrity and student conduct; follow CIAT communication guidelines for professionalism.
This is a variable-hour position. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday; weekend hours may be required. Live bootcamps may run 8 hours per day with times to be determined (Pacific Time).
