Position: Title I Building Assistant at Renovo Elementary

Title I Building Assistant – 7 hours/day – Renovo Elementary School

Starting rate for Title I Assistant is $17.75/hr excellent benefits and PSERS retirement. Apply online at

Qualifications

Must have attained highly qualified status; demonstrates skills, ability, experience, knowledge, training and physical fitness necessary to perform responsibilities of the position. Must meet all State and Federal requirements for the position, regarding staff qualifications. A 2 or 4-year degree in education or related field is preferred.

Job Goal

To assist teachers in providing well-organized, smooth functioning learning environments in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Assisting the teacher in the preparation of instructional materials to be used in the program.
  • Participate in specialized behavior trainings at supervisor's discretion.
  • Assisting in arranging the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on the bulletin board and arranging center areas.
  • Working with assigned children under the teacher's direction.
  • Administering and scoring appropriate screenings and assessments required by the program.
  • Working with individual student or small groups as assigned by the teacher.
  • Establishing and maintaining high standards of student behavior consistent with district and school policies and the School-wide Positive Behavior System.
  • Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities.
  • Supervising the students throughout the day.
  • Completing record keeping/data collection tasks assigned by the teacher.
  • Riding the school bus as needed to monitor and assist with the safe transportation of assigned children.
  • Working to support all needs of the students.
  • Entering student data and assessment information into a database.
  • Assisting with administration of special, individualized behavior programs for the student.
  • Assisting student with personal care needs, which may include feeding, toileting, grooming, etc.
  • Escorting and monitoring student in other environments, which may include itinerants, cafeteria, bus, recess, and community based instruction sites, when needed. Report back to teacher.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with all employees.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding student, problems, and performance. Communicating needs and concerns about the student to the certified instructor.
  • Consistent attendance is a requirement of the job.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
