Position Summary

BSU School of Social Work seeks a Practicum Education Specialist to join a team committed to equity‑minded practice, strengthening a justice‑informed social work community, and advancing the school’s strategic plan. The specialist will place undergraduate and graduate students in internship sites, support MSW students in the hybrid Saturday program, mentor students, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and partner agencies.

Recruit, develop, and approve diverse practicum sites.

Interview and place MSW and BSW students, including the MSW Sat hybrid pathway.

Collaborate with the Director of Practicum Education, Associate Director, School Chair, program coordinators, curriculum committee, and faculty.

Perform evening and weekend duties to support expanding programs.

Ensure equity and inclusion in practicum policies and practices.

Monitor and troubleshoot internships.

Consult with faculty, supervisors, liaisons, and students on placement concerns.

Maintain relationships with agency partners and the professional social work community.

Mentor students on professional goals and learning objectives.

Implement orientation and training programs for practicum instructors and supervisors.

Support policy review to ensure equitable practicum practices.

Manage practicum data, reporting, and analysis.

Represent the SSW practicum program to the local community and contribute to the social work knowledge base.

Assist in recruitment, orientation, and information sessions.

Mediator of practicum education conflict and problem‑solving sensitive issues.

Perform additional duties as requested by the Director of Practicum Education.

Working Hours and Location

Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm. Ability to work Saturdays and evenings as needed. Eligible for hybrid/remote work under BSU remote work policy.

Required Qualifications

MSW degree from an accredited program.

Three years post‑MSW social work practice experience.

Database management skills.

Collegial work style.

Experience in diverse settings.

Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse student needs, colleagues, and community professionals.

Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of social service delivery systems.

Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel in MA and RI.

Comfort and skill with technology.

Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Licensed in MA or another state.
Bilingual/Bi‑cultural.
Familiarity with the landscape of MA and RI agencies.
Experience in a practicum education environment or as a practicum supervisor.
Knowledge of public higher education.
Teaching/training experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $80,000–$85,000.
