The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to work. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The Admissions Counselor reports to an Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment.
The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely and alongside a team of full‑time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. In office or hybrid work hours (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs.
- Manage a recruitment territory (e.g. Columbus)
- Execute territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices using data, reports and analysis tools/technology
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with high schools, community based organizations, and community colleges
- Travel to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University with possible/extensive travel up to 10 weeks per year, potentially 3–4 consistent weeks in a given semester
- Make recruitment calls to prospective students
- Monitor a territory specific budget
- Analyze prospective student data
- Learn and use the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA) system (Ohio State specific data analysis tool), CRM Salesforce, Student Information System (Peoplesoft), and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes, performing data validation
- Manage electronic workflows
- Counsel and correspond with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding The Ohio State University undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person
- Conduct large and small‑group presentations
- Learn and maintain knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests
- Research and resolve problems
- Assist with on and off campus recruitment events and projects
- Coordinate recruitment for special programs, as assigned, which may include transfer, veterans, and College Credit Plus
- Provide support to access, on/off campus programs and initiatives
- Review applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and make admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process
- Participate as an active member of the Undergraduate Admissions team through membership on committees
- Complete special assignments and other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate
- Program planning and implementation experience
- Familiarity with office desktop technology
- Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required
- Work experience at a college/university, admissions preferred
- Knowledge of data interpretation
- Knowledge of CRM and other recruitment technology platforms
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Conflict resolution skills

SalarySalary range for this position is $17.50 - $18.99/hr.
The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, units available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
