Location:

Campus – Requires regular in‑person presence; remote work arrangements are limited.

Pay Range: $1,483.20 – $1,596.50 per credit hour. Salary is based on education, experience, skills, discipline, and prior relevant work.

Hours:

Fall 2026 semester (Aug 24–Dec 15). Class meets:
Monday/Wednesday 3:45‑5:05 p.m. or Tuesday/Thursday 12:30‑1:50 p.m. Office hours are required.

Job Description

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications seeks an instructor to teach JNL 211 Cross‑Media News Writing during the Fall 2026 semester (3 credits).

Course

Description:

Students learn news judgment and cross‑media news writing (AP and broadcast styles) on deadline.

Qualifications
  • Strong journalism background and familiarity with multiple media platforms.
  • Preference for candidates with teaching experience.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a syllabus.
  • Order books and materials for students in advance of the first day of classes.
  • Prepare for classes.
  • Hold weekly office hours to meet with students.
  • Grade student assignments and examinations in a timely manner; submit mid‑semester progress reports and final grades per University regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to instruct the class on the scheduled days and times.
  • Ability to hold office hours on campus.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
Tools / Equipment
  • Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, including computer, projector, document camera, etc.
