Schedule:

Lead Tutors are expected to be on site at their designated MMSD site at least 2 days per week. A minimum amount of coordination and planning can be conducted remotely or from the Morgridge Center for Public Service.

Qualifications:

Student Status, you are required to be directly enrolled in a course.

This role is Work Study eligible but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with school and program staff to support tutoring and mentoring efforts
  • Commitment to the values of equity and responsible community engagement
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred But Not Required
Position Summary/

Job Duties:
  • Site-specific coordination with designated MMSD liaison.
  • Supporting tutor team: coordination of travel for tutor team; facilitating monthly team reflection sessions; individual check in’s with tutors, as needed; etc.
  • Tutoring/mentoring: expected to be on site at least twice a week.

Morgridge Center Support:

Attend Center Trainings And Team Meetings:
  • Fall Orientation (September 12 & September 19)
  • Monthly Tutor Leader Meetings
  • Reflection sessions
  • Workshops/trainings

Badger Volunteers Educate Lead Tutor

Badger Volunteers Educate Lead Tutor works as part of the BV Educate Team to support a designated MMSD school site through both tutoring and coordination. The role works closely with the school liaison, tutors assigned to the school site, and Morgridge Center staff to facilitate tutoring activities and scheduling at the MMSD site. Responsibilities include supporting volunteer and work study tutors assigned to tutoring site, communicating and collaborating with MMSD site staff, and recruitment of tutors.

Passion for and experience with education, tutoring and mentoring, youth work, and community engagement is highly valuable in this position. Applicants should be highly organized and display strong oral and written communication abilities. Awarded applicants must be available for orientation on Saturday September 12, Saturday September 19, monthly trainings throughout the academic year, and monthly tutor leader meetings.
